The WKAR Community Advisory Board (CAB) has been a part of WKAR's broadcasting
services since 1972, serving as a liaison between the community and WKAR. The CAB's
mission is described in the By-Laws:
The purpose of the Board is to reflect and
communicate the needs and the interests
of the community to station management. Duties include advising station management
on such topics as general station policy and programming goals; heightening
community awareness; advocating for broad-based support of WKAR; identifying
and encouraging
new sources of funding for specific projects to improve or expand service to
the community; reviewing and advising on legislation designed to improve the
quality of public telecommunications; and considering other responsibilities
as requested by station management.
The CAB meets six times a year. (See Calendar

Members are elected for three-year terms which
begin July 1st and end June 30th. University and college students are elected for one-year terms.
University and college students are encouraged to apply for seats
on the WKAR Community Advisory Board.
Nominations
for new members are accepted March 1- March 31.
SPECIAL FOR 2009: Nomination deadline has been
extended to April 15.
The Board votes on new members
at the June meeting.
