Beethoven’s Cello Sonata No. 5 in D performed by Suren Bagratuni, cello and George Vatchnadze, piano. Recorded February 3, 2007, at Wharton Center Great Hall. July 10 MSU Symphony Orchestra performs Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10. Dinicu’s Hora Staccato with Caroline Hartig, clarinet, and Deborah Moriarty, piano. July 17 Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 2, with Julie Albers on cello, is performed by the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Timothy Muffitt conducting; followed by Mendelssohn’s Octet in E-Flat. July 24 Shostakovich’s Symphony 1 is performed by the MSU Symphony Orchestra, followed by Pierne’s Sonata for Flute and Piano, with Richard Sherman, flute and Kimberly Schmidt, piano. July 31 Barber’s "Knoxville: Summer of 1915," featuring soprano Carmen Pelton with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra. Also, Mozart’s Piano Sonata No. 14 with Deborah Moriarty, piano and Tomasi’s Concerto for Saxophone and Orchestra with the MSU Symphony Orchestra, featuring Joseph Lulloff on saxophone. August 7 Schubert’s Quintet in C for Strings with members of the Michigan Chamber Music Society; and Mouton’s Wedding Dance from the Symphonic Suite with the MSU Symphony Orchestra conducted by Leon Gregorian. August 14 Gershwin’s Concerto in F for Piano & Orchestra with pianist Ralph Votapek; and Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. Both performed by the MSU Symphony Orchestra conducted by Leon Gregorian. August 21 Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra conducted by Timothy Muffitt. |
