WKAR Kids Week
August 3-6
on WKAR-HD and WKAR-23
Kid Shows Rock PBS Primetime!
We’ve often heard from parents and caregivers praising WKAR’s fabulous children’s programming. And with good reason.
A recent Roper Poll rates PBS Kids' programming as "the most educational media brand" (when compared with other broadcast services). PBS children's programming leads the industry in helping children realize their potential and prepare for success inschool and life.
A generation of late-baby boomers and younger grew up with Big Bird and other favorites who still entertain their children. And new friends, like Curious George and WordGirl take children on daily adventures into the world of learning.
August 3-6 WKAR will offer viewers the opportunity to support this valuable resource that isn't only good for the children, but ultimately good for the community as well, with a special on-air membership campaign.
The centerpiece of the campaign is four evenings of primetime children's programming, during which adults can watch with their kids. Those without a little one can take a good look at what youngsters are seeing on public television these days. (Maybe it's even a walk down memory lane!)
The on-air pledging will begin with the 4-6 p.m. children's programming block and continue from 8-9 p.m. with different featured children's programs each night.
Among those featured are:
Curious George (Monday)
Sesame Street (Tuesday)
WordGirl (Wednesday)
Clifford the Big Red Dog (Thursday)
You can support your favorite programs on WKAR -- children's or otherwise -- anytime at WKAR.org. Or, call during the program to take advantage of the special thank you gifts.
