MSU Symphony Orchestra in 90.5 Concerts

One might say that Leon Gregorian wears many hats, or uses several batons as a professor of music, director of orchestras and head of the graduate orchestral conducting program at Michigan State University's College of Music.

Gregorian, who holds degrees from New England Conservatory of Music and MSU is one of the featured conductors this month on WKAR Radio's 90.5 Community Concerts series.

His work was featured on August 11 and 18 and will also be featured in the August 25 program.

Gregorian joined the university's music faculty in 1984. Under his leadership both the symphony and chamber orchestras have performed in such prestigious venues as Avery Fisher Hall and Alice Tully Hall in New York, as well as ones in Chicago and Detroit.

In addition to receiving numerous honors throughout his career, including MSU's Teacher-Scholar and Distinguished Faculty awards, he has also received honorary awards from the State Houses in Massachusetts, Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan.

As a guest conductor, Gregorian has traveled the world with appearances in Venezuela, Mexico, South Korea, Italy, Roumania, Armenia, Russia, Brazil, Argentina, Czech Republic, Australia, and the People's Republic of China, as well as appearing with many orchestra in the United States.
