on AM 870 Earle Robinson Gives Rob Bennett a Close Shave!
There was a whole lot of shaving going on Monday, October 19, at WKAR Radio Studios, when SportsTalk 870 host Earle Robinson shaved the head of his co-host Rob Bennett.
Bennett had made a wager with Robinson that if WKAR reached 300 members and $113,000 during the station’s fall on-air fundraising campaign by the time their program ended last Thursday afternoon that he would allow his smooth-headed colleague to shave his head.
Campaign totals by 2 p.m. Thursday exceeded both member and dollar targets.
WKAR Radio’s campaign concluded the following afternoon at 1 p.m. with a grand total of $153,676 and 1,420 members. Since then, pledges have continued to come in, bringing WKAR to within $1,800 of the goal.
SportsTalk 870 is heard weekdays at 1 p.m. on WKAR/AM870. Robinson, Bennett and guests take listener calls on sports, including MSU Spartans, Lansing Lugnuts, mid-Michigan prep sports, and the Detroit professional teams. Members of the MSU coaching staff are frequent guests, including head coaches Mark Dantonio, Tom Izzo, Suzy Merchant and Rick Comley.
