Reading Rainbow 14th Annual Young Writers & Illustrators Contest

WKAR Invites Children K-3 to Participate in Young Writers & Illustrators Contest
Only two weeks remain for children in grades K-3 to enter the 14th annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers & Illustrators Contest, sponsored by WKAR.
Entries must be from children in grades K-3, who write and illustrate an original story. Entries must be postmarked by February 29, 2008, or dropped off at one of the sites below.
Entries will be judged on the following criteria:
- Strict adherence to the contest rules, including word count and number of illustrations, as well as the presentation. Rules are clearly outlined in the Official Contest Rules document. Those not following contest rules will be disqualified.
- Imagination and creativity, along with quality of illustrations.
- Parents are allowed only to accept dictation from a child who cannot yet write.
- Additional criteria are available on contest rules form.
Entries must be postmarked no later than the contest entry deadline of February 29, 2008.
Entry form must be filled out and signed by parents. The Contest Entry Form is available here online at WKAR.org.
First-place entries in each grade level will be forwarded to Reading Rainbow for national judging. Winners of the local judging will be announced in May; national winners will be announced in June. All entrants will receive a certificate of participation signed by Reading Rainbow host Levar Burton.
