James Last Live at the Royal Albert Hall
Tuesday, March 11, at 8 p.m.
The man who had his first piano lesson in 1939, found worldwide popularity with his Non Stop Dancing recordings in the 60s and has now collected 17 platinum and 206 gold discs — James “Hansi” Last —returns with his lively big band to his favorite stage to entertain music lovers.
Recorded in September 2007 at what Last calls his “second home,” London’s glorious Royal Albert Hall, Hansi, his orchestra and vocalists Mac Kissoon, Simon Bell, Sonja Jones, Tracey D. Duncan and soul diva Ingrid Arthur, previously of the Weather Girls, offer a trademark mix of classic standards, sing-along favorites and fast-tempo foot-tappers.
In the venerable 19th-century hall, the tireless septuagenarian leads his multi-generational band — the “best musicians I know” — in a 21st-century set that switches from ballad and soul to polka and pop tunes. For James Last at the Royal Albert Hall, the ornate interior of the Albert is outfitted with a video screen that captures both performers and the equally multi-generational audience, augmented by lighting effects that match the mood of the musical selections. These include a romantic rendition of “The Way We Were” that segues into a more upbeat version, a danceable rendition of “Greensleeves” that features guitar and drum solos and an interpretation of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” enhanced by buoyant trumpets.
The party favorite “Tequila” is punctuated by audience participation — fans shout “Tequila!” along with the musicians at appropriate moments. The audience also responds enthusiastically to the downhome appeal of “Orange Blossom Special” and to the band’s athletic energy throughout the concert. Vocalists complement the orchestrations on “Vertigo,” “Hero” and “When September Ends.”
The program concludes with a lush version of Last’s own composition, “Games That Lovers Play,” as he shakes hands with adoring audience members.

From rousing ensemble numbers to solos showcasing each members’ vocal style and personality,Celtic Thunder performs powerful ballads, popular hits, and heartwarming songs of love and lossfrom across the Celtic music spectrum—Irish, Scottish, traditional and contemporary. Celtic Thundercreator/producer Sharon Browne teamed up with legendary Irish composer Phil Coulter (Elvis Presley’s “My Boy,” Sandie Shaw’s “Puppet on a String,” the now-classic Irish ballad “The Town I Loved So Well”), to audition men all over Ireland and Scotland for the group, and craft a representative set list.
The eclectic mix of music includes traditional songs (“Mountains of Mourne,” “Come by the Hills,” “Love Thee Dearest”), pop classics (Paul Anka’s “Puppy Love,” the Eagles’ “Desperado,” The Moody Blues’ “Nights in White Satin”) and Coulter originals (Irish Rugby Football Union anthem “Ireland’s Call,” “The Old Man,” “Steal Away”), accompanied by The Celtic Concert Orchestra, a full band, bagpipes and monks. Choreography, dramatic lighting, visual effects, and a set resembling ancient stone steps and paths enhance the musical production.

The Everly Brothers Reunion Concert
Saturday, March 15, at 10 p.m.
One of the most influential duos in the history of rock n’ roll reunited on the stage of London’s famed Royal Albert Hall on September 23, 1983. Don and Phil Everly, two siblings with golden voices and acoustic guitars, performed together as The Everly Brothers for the first time since their acrimonious split, mid-concert, in 1973.
The Everly Brothers Reunion Concert captures this historic event, featuring the duo performing all the hits that cemented their unique sound, including “All I Have To Do Is Dream," “Bye Bye Love," "Wake Up Little Susie,” "Cathy's Clown," and “When Will I Be Loved.” These songs married Don and Phil’s signature two-part harmonies with a blend of rockabilly, bluegrass, country and pop – directly influencing legendary acts like The Beatles, The Beach Boys and Simon & Garfunkel.
The Everly Brothers have a total of 26 Billboard Top 40 singles, and in 1986, they were among the 10inaugural artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 1997, they were awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and have also been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, Vocal Group Hall of Fame and Rockabilly Hall of Fame.

YOU: Steps for Extending Your Warranty with Dr. Michael Roizen
Sunday, March 16, at 2 p.m.
Many set a goal of living longer, but medical breakthroughs now indicate that we are at the controls as we set our sights on living younger. In his new PBS special, Dr. Michael Roizen provides an easy plan of action to fight life’s “major agers” — those internal and external forces that cause the most wear and tear on the body.
Dr. Roizen shares the latest findings about the biological processes that control how and why we age the way we do, then reveals an action plan for staying young based on cutting-edge science. Tools and tips designed to help viewers manage stress, safeguard against toxins, stay sharp and live long are offered as ways to slow the aging process.
With the help of male and female specimens from the “Bodies” scientific exhibit, Dr. Roizen visually identifies and explains the body’s organs, arteries and nerves affecting the aging process, offering gender-specific guidance on such factors as hormone therapy and nitric oxide.
Dr. Roizen explains the genes that predispose people to diabetes and other diseases, along with instruction for “turning off” negative genetic traits through a change in vitamins, diet and exercise.
YOU: Steps for Extending Your Warranty with Dr. Michael Roizen, based on Dr. Roizen’s #1 New York Times best-seller You: Staying Young, also offers information on ways to alleviate a major concern about growing older — reduced mental capabilities. In this taped presentation before a studio audience, he reveals the foods, supplements and mind games that build brain power.
Dr. Michael F. Roizen is a professor of anesthesiology and internal medicine and chair of the Division of Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine and Comprehensive Pain Management at the Cleveland Clinic. Previous best-sellers include You on a Diet and The RealAge Makeover, which also became PBS specials, and two other books, You: The Owner’s Manual and You: The Smart Patient.
