WKAR Radio Spring Campaign Launches Early
WKAR Radio begins its on-air membership campaign Monday, March 24. The programming event will continue through March 31, with a goal of $130,000 and 315 new members. Listeners can pledge at (517) 353-5000 during the campaign on anytime online at WKAR.org.
The event is one of two annual on-air membership campaigns for WKAR Radio. Thanks to the dollars pledged by listeners, the reporting and programming skills of Mark Bashore, Dan Bayer, Bob Blackman, Doug Collar, Melissa Ingells, Jody Knol, Kevin Lavery, Rachel Lippmann, Gretchen Millich, Rick Pluta, Scott Pohl, Gene Purdum, Earle Robinson, Mark Schwitzgoebel, and Rob South continue at WKAR.org.
Dollars also go to purchase programming from National Public Radio, Public Radio International, the BBC, and American Public Media that also enriches and enlightens listener lives with a variety of program offerings.
Technological advances have allowed WKAR Radio to become a truly global medium not just with its program offerings and news reports from around the world, but also through out website, WKAR.org. Now, anyone can listen to WKAR anytime, anywhere.
“We hope current WKAR Radio members will show their continued support for our programming by renewing their pledge during this last drive of our fiscal year. And, if someone is a listener but not a member, we hope our spring campaign activities will encourage you to take the step from listener to listener-supporter,” explains Laura Peek, WKAR Radio campaign producer.
In addition to supporting the programming, those calling in are eligible to enter a special sweepstakes. The winner will receive a one week stay at the Farfield Harbour Resort in New Bern, North Carolina beginning June 29, 2008 and ending July 6, 2008. This prize is valued at $1,600. One prize package is available. The prize is not redeemable for cash. No substitution, transfer, or assignment of the prize is permitted by contestants, except that WKAR reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event that an offered prize is unavailable. Only one prize per household.
