WKAR Life Becomes WKAR Create on Sunday, April 6

Beginning Sunday, April 6, WKAR Life gets a new name and a new primetime look! Beginning that day the station will be known as WKAR Create and feature the popular Create lineup that viewers have enjoyed during daytime hours throughout the broadcast day. (WKAR signs off at midnight, but Comcast cable subscribers can view the station 24 hours/day.)

“When we launched WKAR Life in November, we thought that viewers would appreciate having the prime time service available for additional PBS programs,” says station/program manager Kent Wieland. “What we learned from viewer calls and e-mail was that many enjoyed watching the cooking, how-to, and lifestyles programs during the evening. We are responding to the audience’s concerns in making this change.”

You can find the program schedule for WKAR Create in Fine Tuning.

For those new to the service, WKAR Create features how-to and lifestyles programs that rotate and repeat every six hours. Among some of the programs featured on the channel are This Old House, New Yankee Workshop, Globe Trekker, Rick Steves' Europe, travel programs with Burt Wolf and Art Wolfe, cooking programs with John and Caprial Pence, Lidia Bastianich, Steven Reichlen, Rick Bayless, Ming Tsai, America's Test Kitchen, P. Allen Smith's Garden Home, Katie Brown's Workshop, For Your Home with Vicki Payne and Sloan Payne-Rutter, Scrapbook Memories, Paint, Paper and Crafts, and quilting and stitching programs with Sue Haussman, Shay Pendray and others.

One of the highlights of Create is the Saturday thematic marathons, in which all programs relate to a single theme. Themes may be related to holidays, travel, or a specific kind of cooking or craft.
