Beloved Lerner & Loewe Musical Featured on "Live From Lincoln Center"
Live From Lincoln Center will telecast theNew York Philharmonic’sproduction of Camelot, the celebrated musical with book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe.
The PBS broadcast, one of the five semi-staged performances of the musical running May 7-10 in Avery Fisher Hall, will star Gabriel Byrne (King Arthur) recently seen in HBO’s In Treatment; Marin Mazzie (Guenevere), Tony nominated for her role in Kiss Me Kate, and Nathan Gunn (Sir Lancelot), Metropolitan Opera baritone.
Lending support are Fran Drescher (Morgan le Fey), Emmy Award-winning actress, best known for her role in The Nanny; Christopher Lloyd (Pellinore), stage and film actor who appeared in the Back to the Future trilogy; and Marc Kudisch (Lionel), Tony nominated for Thoroughly Modern Millie on Broadway.
Camelot will be directed for stage and television by Lonny Price. Price also directed Live From Lincoln Center’s Emmy-winning broadcast of Passion with Patti LuPone and Audra McDonald, among his many credits. The conductor will be Paul Gemignani, most recently the conductor for the film, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street starring Johnny Depp; the producer is Thomas Z. Shepard. May 6, 2008
