The War: Michigan Voices

Frequently Asked Questions about
The War: Michigan Voices

I saw your program on WKAR. How can I be part of this project?

You may submit your World War II-related personal stories to the Stories from Viewers section on WKAR.org. Veterans, family members or others who have such stories may write them to this online site, which can be accessed nationwide.  You may also include a photo.

How did you select the people you interviewed or appeared in the documentary?

WKAR placed notices in many newspapers and in station publications seeking veterans who served overseas who would like to tell us their stories. We also  contacted churches and community centers and other organizations. About 65 people were interviewed and all their transcripts appear online at WKAR.org. Unfortunately, the restrictions of two one-hour programs meant that we could not use something from each person interviewed. That is why we included their interesting stories online.

A relative of mine was interviewed for The War: Michigan Voices. Can I  purchase a copy of that full interview?

Please contact your relative directly. Each veteran has been given a DVD of their  complete interview. The veteran, or anyone they designate may make as many  copies of the interview as they like. There are no restrictions. Additional  interview copies are not available through WKAR-TV.

Will I be able to view the The War: Michigan Voices - European Theatre and  The War: Michigan Voices - Pacific Theatre on-demand online?

Not at this time.

How can I obtain a copy of The War: Michigan Voices - European Theatre and The War: Michigan Voices - Pacific Theatre?

These programs will be available in late Fall of 2007 through a membership pledge of $75  for your choice of program, or $120 for the set.  Please contact the WKAR  Membership Office at 517-432-9527.
