Broad Art Museum: New Exhibitions
Now that it’s been open for a few months, it’s time for the Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University to change things up.
Some inaugural exhibits are departing, and three new exhibits go on display this Friday.
The museum’s curator of contemporary art, Alison Gass, says one is Naiza Khan's "Karachi Elegies".
Khan is a young Pakistani artist. This is her first museum show in the United States. Gass calls it a study of contemporary conditions in Pakistan, featuring metal sculptures called "armor lingerie". It also includes paintings, photographs, and videos.
There also will be an opening for "Guillermo Kuitca: Diarios".
Kuitca is from Argentina. There 17 paintings, all on round 48-inch canvasses, each made in a single day. You'll also see a video of Kuitca making the art.
Lastly, there will be a small collections show organized by Gass called "Geometries: Selections from the Collection". That exhibit leads to the March opening of "Pattern: Follow the Rules".
