Future of Detroit's Fort Wayne tied to new international bridge

Current State’s Scott Pohl has been meeting historian Jack Dempsey at historic sites around Detroit this summer, and he’s back with another installment today. This time around, they stopped by Fort Wayne in Detroit.Going back to the Civil War, this was an important military installation for about a hundred years. It’s fallen on hard times, and as Dempsey explains, the future of this place is connected to the proposal to build a new international bridge between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario.

Scott Pohl is a general assignment news reporter and produces news features and interviews. He is also an alternate local host on NPR's "Morning Edition."
