WKAR's Reginald Hardwick talked with Jackson councilman Derek Dobies about his priorities once he becomes mayor of Jackson, Michigan in December.
Dobies defeated incumbent Bill Jors on November 7.
Dobies talked about bringing new business to the community of 32,000. And bringing together Jackson after the city added a non-discrimination against LGBT people ordinance. Some of his opponents lead an unsucessful recall drive again Dobies earlier this year.
In addition to being the mayor-elect, Dobies is a husband and father to a very active toddler.
He and the rest of the city council will be sworn in on December 5.
