Urbandale neighborhood on February 22, 2018 after being flooded.

On Friday morning, Andi Crawford, City of Lansing Department of Planning & Neighborhood Development director talked with WKAR's Reginald Hardwick about how volunteers can help flood victims this weekend.

“We do have volunteer efforts that folks are signing up for, [and] we will be doing some volunteer deployment for clean up to help our neighbors recover from the storm,” Andi Crawford, City of Lansing Department of Planning & Neighborhood Development director.“You can find all that information at lansingmi.gov, and of course all of our social media.”

“So we are asking people to sign up to volunteer. They may or may not be deployed for projects coming up. But it does get them into our volunteer base, so that we can continue to deploy citizens and service to each other when we do have these type of emergencies,” Andi Crawford, City of Lansing Department of Planning & Neighborhood Development director.

“There are opportunities to donate at our partners, the Red Cross (redcross.org); and if people want to donate goods that help others get back on their feet, things like (household items, furniture, etc.), our partners at Goodwill will take those donations,” Andi Crawford, City of Lansing Department of Planning & Neighborhood Development director. “And the Red Cross will be giving flood impacted families and households vouchers that they can spend at the Goodwill in order to redeem those. So those are ways that our citizens can contribute and help each other.”
