MAP, VIDEO: Rain, Swollen Red Cedar River Causes Flooding on MSU Campus

INCLUDES MAP | UPDATED Thursday 2:00 p.m.: There are no evacuations on the Michigan State University campus as water from the Red Cedar River continues to rise. Several roads and parking lots remain closed.

According to an university release on Thursday afternoon, the Red Cedar River is expected to crest at 10.3 feet in a few hours. However, it will take days for it to recede. 

MSU police have not called for the evacuation of any buildings. 

Crews placed more than 700 feet of barriers around the MSU Computer Center and the Hannah Administration Building. 

MSU said the following areas will be closed through March 2:

·         Chestnut Road between Demonstration Hall Road and the Beal Street/Kalamazoo Street intersection (at the Sparty statue).

·         Red Cedar Road from the Chestnut Road intersection to the entrance to Central Services.

·         Northbound Red Cedar Road, north of Shaw Lane will also be closed to through traffic.

·         Lots 62W, 62E and 67, as well as the basement level of Parking Ramp #2, will be closed for the duration of flooding.

·         The Auditorium Road Loop will also be closed for the duration of flooding.
