Lansing residents got more information about which roads will be fixed in the coming fiscal year when Mayor Andy Schor rolled out his Road Project Plan this morning. Katie Cook has more.
The fiscal year 2019 plan includes work on several major streets in Lansing, and continued pothole repairs in neighborhoods with an average 48-hour turnaround.
Mayor Schor says the plan was finalized after a series of Neighborhood Road Map meetings were held in each ward earlier this year.
Interactive maps and resources have been added to the City of Lansing’s website showing which roads have been fixed and where future work is planned, as well as information about where road dollars have been used in the past.
100% of Lansing’s 2.1 million road millage dollars will be used for road projects for the first time ever. And $400,000 has been allocated from the City’s General Fund specifically for infrastructure work. It is the first time in four years that a piece of Lansing’s overall General Fund budget will be used toward infrastructure.
