More Ads & Spending Ahead in Michigan's Gubernatorial Race

With less than three months to go until Michigan elects its next Governor, you’ve probably noticed an uptick in commercials on TV. Prepare to see a lot more.

According to Associated Press reporter David Eggert, Michigan is a priority for Democrats.

“The Democratic Governors Association has blocked out a lot of ad time this fall," said Eggert. "They’ve got this as a high priority, top target seat nationally.”

Republicans are also expected to invest in the campaign to keep the Governor's seat.

80 million dollars was spent during Michigan’s most expensive governor’s race in 2006.

Eggert said Republican Bill Schuette and Democrat Gretchen Whitmer are experienced politicians and expert fundraisers.

In a few months, we’ll learn if the big spending will pay off for either candidate.
