The Michigan State athletic department will pay tribute to former men's basketball coach Jud Heathcote in multiple ways in the near future and throughout the 2017-18 season. The men's basketball team will wear a patch honoring Heathcote throughout the upcoming year. The final design of the patch will be revealed at a later date.
The MSU / Purdue men's basketball game on February 10 at the Breslin Center will be the Jud Heathcote Tribute Game. The date coincides with the annual former player reunion, which will allow many of Coach Heathcote's former players to be in attendance.
Heathcote was recognized with a moment of silence before the MSU football season opener against Bowling Green at Spartan Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Heathcote passed away on August 28 at the age of 90.
