Rebecca Anthony, an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Michigan State University, received a National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development Award worth $500,000.

The financial support will go to Anthony’s project, “Continuous Vapor-Phase Manufacturing of Anisotropic Silicon Nanostructures for Optoelectronic Applications.”

This project’s end goal is to make LED lights more efficient and versatile.

Anthony is now the 13th member of MSU’s College of Engineering’s faculty to receive an NSF CAREER Award since 2010.

Anthony earned a doctorate in mechanical engineering at the University of Minnesota and attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, where she majored in physics.
