Trying to eat healthy this year, but not sure where to start? On this episode of Serving Up Science, science writer Sheril Kirshenbaum and WKAR’s Karel Vega take a look at the Mediterranean diet.
Many of us have heard about food diets: Keto, Atkins, The Whole 30 Diets etc. But these diets focus on cutting foods out of your system.
On the contrary, the Mediterranean diet aims to help individuals moderate their food intake and it becomes more of a lifestyle.
It emphasizes fruits, veggies, olive oil and red wine, but it doesn't cut out any foods; it just suggests to eat less red meats and fatty foods.
The Mayo Clinic has more information about the Mediterranean diet here.
