WKAR's Al Martin shared his story at our most recent Pop-Up Stories event at the Broad Art Museum.

We have another Pop-Up Story from our most recent storytelling event. The theme was “lucky break.” This one is from WKAR’s Al Martin, and it’s about avoiding trouble at a former workplace.

The theme of our most recent Pop-Up Stories event at the Broad Art Museum last month was “Lucky Break,” and our own Al Martin had a doozy. Al is the host of Current Sports on WKAR-TV and radio. His “lucky break” dates back to his early days working for WLNS-TV 6 Sports Director Fred Heumann and a fateful assignment in Chicago.

We’ve got another Pop-Up Stories coming up soon. Join us at (SCENE) Metrospace on Thursday, April 21st for stories on the theme “Fools Rush In.” If you want to tell your own story, email us at currentstate@wkar.org. You can also stay up to date on all our upcoming events by liking our Facebook page at Pop Up Stories Lansing.

Scott Pohl is a general assignment news reporter and produces news features and interviews. He is also an alternate local host on NPR's "Morning Edition."
