Probable case of swine flu reported in Michigan

By AP / WKAR

Lansing, MI – Lansing, MI (AP/WKAR)
The Michigan Department of Community Health is reporting a probable case of swine flu in Livingston County.

State laboratory results show what appears to be swine flu in a 34-year-old woman who recently traveled to the Texas-Mexico border.

The lab results will be sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to confirm whether the case is positive.

People with respiratory illness are strongly urged to stay home to avoid spreading the disease.

They should also contact their physicians if they experience flu-like symptoms.

Officials are also telling people to avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth, and to wash their hands frequently and thoroughly with soap.
