Radio Reader -- Nicholas Sparks, John Grisham

Dick Estell is currently reading The Best of Me, by Nicholas Sparks, on The Radio Reader. The program is heard weekdays at 8:30 a.m.

The book tells the heart-rending story of two small-town former high school sweethearts who come from opposite sides of the tracks. Now, middle-aged, they have taken wildly divergent paths but neither has lived the life they imagined, and neither can forget the passionate first love that forever altered their world.

When they are forced to come back to their hometown for the funeral of the man who was their mentor, they are forced to confront the choices each has made and ask whether love can truly re-write the past.

The work of John Grisham comes to WKAR on Thursday, March 29 when Dick Estell begins reading The Litigator on The Radio Reader, which The Washington Post called “a snappy, well-turned novel.” David Zinc, a young but burned-our attorney, walks away from his fast-track career at a fancy downtown Chicago firm and finds himself at the doorstep of Finley & Figg, a two- bit operation always in search of their big break. With their new associate on board, F&F is ready to tackle a really big case, a case that could make the partners rich without requiring them to actually practice much law.

The Litigators is an entertaining read filled with the kind of courtroom strategies, theatrics, and suspense that have made John Grisham America's favorite storyteller. His nuanced understanding of law and his gentle touch make this one a don’t-miss selection!
