Lansing Mayor Andy Schor has submitted his first budget proposal in office to the city council. New to the office, Schor describes the spending plan as “largely a continuation budget from previous years.”
The proposed $218.6-million budget is up 4.9% from the fiscal year 2018 spending plan. The general fund budget of $134.3-million is up 4.6%.
Schor proposes spending $400,000 from the general fund on road repairs, the first time general fund money would be spent on roads in four years. He also would double sidewalk repair spending to $300,000.
Schor’s budget would also include $45-million for pension and retiree health care costs. $2.3-million would go towards retiree health care pre-funding.
