Some classes are being canceled at the University of Michigan-Flint due to intermittent power outages.

The school said the outages Monday were due to issues affecting the Central Energy Plant. Affected buildings included the library, the First Street Residence Hall, University Center and the Murchie Science Building.

Officials are working with the area's utility to restore power.

Day classes in affected buildings were cancelled through 4 p.m. Monday and the Recreation Center also was closed.

Other classes are taking place as scheduled.

The school plans to post updates about power restoration and classes on its website.
