Kathryn Edin: Author of "$2 a Day: Living on Almost Nothing in America"

Thur. Apr. 27 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm in WKAR Studio A & LIVE Webcast | Kathryn Edin, co-author of $2 a Day: Living on Almost Nothing in America, will discuss extreme poverty in America. RSVP to Attend | Watch Live WebCast

The critically acclaimed book has won numerous awards and been referred to as “a revelatory account of poverty in America so deep that we, as a country, don’t think it exists.” The reality is, more than a half million American households, including about three million children, live in extreme poverty.

Dr. Edin has conducted research on poverty in America for more than two decades. The book profiles stories from families across the country and reveals how prevalent the problem is, delivering new evidence and new ideas to our national debate on income inequality.

Dr. Edin is the Bloomberg Distinguished Professor, Department of Sociology, Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and Department of Population, Family, and Reproductive Health, Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University.

WKAR will also provide a LIVE webcast for public viewing at tv.wkar.org/live-webcast.
