Peter Spadafore took the Lansing city council oath of office on Jan. 1. He has resigned from the Lansing Board of Education.

The Lansing Board of Education now has two vacancies to fill this year. Board member Shirley Rodgers passed away last week, and at Thursday night's board meeting, Peter Spadafore submitted his resignation. In November, Spadafore was elected to the Lansing city council.

Spadafore's resignation takes effect at noon Friday.

Spadafore's last act as a school board member ws to submit a resolution to rename the district's administration center in honor of Rodgers. It was approved unanimously.

Information on applying to fill one of the vacancies will be available later Friday.
