Wally Pleasant explains that he likes performing at the Windwalker Underground Gallery because. "it's very convenient. I happen to live there (Charlotte)," he explains. "It's a wonderful space. They have an art gallery and they have a stage, which is really great for acoustic musicians. It's kind of got a hippie vibe."

Pleasant has released six albums, and he says he has enough songs for two more. He plans to start working on one in the spring.

The songs he's writing these days continue his "funny focus," Pleasant states. he's been moving towards rootsy, country sounds. His recent inspiration has been the music of Jimmie Rodgers, the Mississippi "Blue Yodeler."

The Wally Pleasant shows at the Windwalker Underground Gallery are Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Scott Pohl is a general assignment news reporter and produces news features and interviews. He is also an alternate local host on NPR's "Morning Edition."
