"Sugar Ray" Norcia hails from Stonington, Connecticut -- a town he calls "the Austin of the East Coast,"  for the thriving roots music scene there. The Roomful of Blues alumnus is joined by some of the hottest blues musicians working today, to play "traditional Chicago blues -- not bastardized in any way," says Norcia. "We play it the way was written, the way it's supposed to be played. We're keeping up that tradition." Sugar Ray and the Bluetones were captured live for BackStage Pass making music in Michigan at BluesFest 2013 in Lansing's historic Old Town district.

In the band: "Sugar Ray" Norcia, vocals/harmonica; "Monster" Mike Welch, guitar; Anthony Geraci, piano; Michael "Mudcat" Ward, bass; Neil Gouvin, drums.

A co-production of WKAR at Michigan State University, Michigan Institute for Contemporary Art, and MessageMakers
