"The Vicar" Wins by a Hair!

Members pledging around WKAR’s Britcom line-up in June were able to vote from a selection of four new comedies or retain Keeping Up Appearances in WKAR’s July line-up!

The Vicar of Dibley joins WKAR’s Britcom line-up Saturdays at 9 p.m., beginning July 5!

The program won the coveted slot by only three votes, just barely edging out Keeping Up Appearances. Taking third place was To the Manor Born with 26 votes. My Hero and ‘Allo, ‘Allo followed with three and two votes respectively.

In The Vicar of Dibley, Dawn French stars as Geraldine Granger, a woman who is assigned a parish in the small Oxfordshire village of Dibley after the death of its elderly vicar.

She’s anything but elderly, a self-described “babe with a bob-cut and a magnificent bosom.” She enjoys good laughs, chocolate hob-nobs, pop music and turning the village upside down.

French has also appeared in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkahban, and Marple: Sleeping Murder, among other things.

Also featured in the cast is Trevor Peacock (Are You Being Served?). The series is written by Richard Curtis, who also penned such favorites as Love, Actually, Notting Hill and Four Weddings and a Funeral.
