Celebrate WKAR's Classical Music with a Grand Evening at Lansing's Potter House

It will be a star-filled of fine dining, good company, and beautiful classical music at the Potter House to celebrate the WKAR Endowment for Classical Music. The event is Friday, February 20 from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m.

The Potter House is one of Lansing’s exquisite 1926 homes. Jim McClurken and Sergei Kvitko have graciously opened their historic residence for this festive gala which harks back the city’s opulent parties of decades past.

Highlighting the evening will be an intimate concert in the third floor ballroom, featuring several of mid-Michigan’s finest musicians, who are also faculty members of the MSU College of Music, including Suren Bagratuni (cello), Yuri Gandelsman (viola), Melanie Helton (soprano), and Ralph Votapek (piano). The evening will also feature a special appearance by New York composer/pianist Ricky Ian Gordon.

The WKAR Endowment for Classical Music
In honor of 90.5 WKAR’s 60th anniversary, the station has launched a five-year campaign to raise $500,000 in endowment funds to support classical music services on WKAR. The Potter House event celebrates the station’s rich history of classical music services and the endowment to establish permanent funding for classical music on WKAR. Though primarily designed to provide support of the genre on WKAR-FM , endowment revenue may also be used for providing classical music online and for local WKAR-TV program offerings, as well as supporting other related areas of our classical music services.

The campaign is already off to a great start with more than $140,000 in endowment funds raised for WKAR’s classical music service, committed from close to 250 WKAR members.

For further information about the WKAR Endowment for Classical Music, please contact Seth Martin at (517) 432-3120 , ext. 362, or by e-mail at: Seth@wkar.org.
