EAST LANSING, Mich. – Holiday break serves as an appropriate mental checkpoint for students at Michigan State. Anxiety-ridden undergrads slog through finals week, looking towards the light at the end of the tunnel. There’s comfort to be found in the conclusion of the semester, but one MSU student’s work has only just begun.

Arthur Ray is a Chicago native who stands at 6'3" and 300 lbs. He's a former Michigan State lineman who played two seasons at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado after being granted two extra seasons of eligibility by the NCAA in January of 2013. He last played for MSU back in 2011 and is a cancer survivor. 

 

Nostalgia at the Breslin Center

The 2000 MSU national championship men's basketball team was honored at halftime of Saturday's game between the Spartans and Florida Gators. Bryn Forbes had 12 points and six rebounds and fellow senior Denzel Valentine added 17 points, helping the No. 1 Spartans beat Florida 58-52, moving the team to 11-0 on the year.

MSU Senior Quarterback Connor Cook was sidelined during the second half of the Maryland game at Spartan Stadium on Saturday. Tyler O'Connor lead the offense, as the Spartans were able to escape with a 24 to 7 victory over the Terrapins, moving to 9-1 on the year.

The MSU men's basketball team topped Florida Atlantic University at the Breslin Center in Friday night's season opener. This marked the 31st consecutive season opening win for the Spartans, 18-3 under head coach Tom Izzo. 

Okemos best soccer players turn into MSU stars

EAST LANSING, Mich. – When the Michigan State women’s soccer team played Northwestern this season, Okemos soccer head coach Brian Guggemos brought his children to the game to show them something spectacular.

Kristelle Yewah and Sarah Kovan took the field at DeMartin Stadium for the Spartans, and Kourtney Scott for Northwestern, as Guggemos watched three of his former players take part in a Big Ten game.

Suzy Merchant and the 2015-16 MSU Women's Basketball Team has depth, talent, and a ton of youth. They are coming off a year in which they were hampered with injuries. They've learned from that experience and look forward to putting the past in the past.

The MSU men's basketball team had a magical season last year, making it all the way to the Final Four before bidding adieu at the hands of the Duke Blue Devils. MSU returns nine of its top 11 scorers from last season and are poised to have a great year.

MSU Kendo Club finds success and gains members

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- More than 50,000 Michigan State students call East Lansing home, and for each one of them, there is probably something on campus get involved in.

    There are over 30 club sports for MSU students, and one of the oldest, but least attention-seeking, is the Martial Arts discipline of Kendo.

   MSU's Kendo team is competitive, having started this semester by winning the championship at the Case Western Reserve Kendo tournament in Ohio.

No. 4 Spartans Ground Air Force in 35-21 Win

The Spartans moved to 3-0 on the year, topping the Air Force Falcons 35-21 at Spartan Stadium on Saturday. It was the first time that MSU welcomed a service academy to East Lansing.

Despite the Western Michigan Broncos pulling to within 10 points in the fourth quarter, Michigan State was able to hang on and top the Broncos, 37-24 at Waldo Stadium.
