Fall is in the air! Kids are returning to school soon and it won't be long before the leaves turn. At WKAR, that means on thing in particular -- it's time to make your reservations for our Fall Preview on September 6.
It's been another busy week for us, both in the studio and out! On Thursday we recorded the only debate that U.S. Senate candidates Pete Hoekstra, Clark Durant and Randall Heckman will hold before the primary. This Off the Record Special was moderated by Tim Skubick and with the no-rules format, it made for some lively conversation.
WKAR heads to Lansing JazzFest on August 3-4 in Lansing's Old Town. "Peep," the enchanting title character of the children's series Peep and the Big Wide World, will be on hand to greet the kids near the Kidz Beat tent and the MICA stage.
"Peep" will appear on Friday, August 3 between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, August 4, "Peep" will appear from 2-5 p.m.
Look for our Street Team and have them take your child's photo with Peep! We'll be posting them on our WKAR Facebook page!
Every day I am more and more impressed with the incredible talents of people who live right here in our mid-Michigan community.
Earlier this week, WKAR welcomed Molly Fillmore as our guest for an "Evening at WKAR." Two years ago, Molly appeared on BackStage Pass with some of her colleagues from the voice faculty at MSU's College of Music. Little did we realize back then that we were working with a woman who would appear on one of the great stages of the world — the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.
June 26 and 27 at East Lansing Hannah Community Center, in the Albert White Performing Arts Theater. Two free shows per night, featuring Home Again, Domestic Problems, Howling Diablos and Silent Lapse. These concerts are being recorded for BackStage Pass, the television series featuring music made in Michigan.
The third broadcast season of BackStage Pass just wrapped up, with TV featuring music made in Michigan from the Chenille Sisters, Larry McCray, Bowery, and many more great, original acts. Those 10 shows will repeat on WKAR-TV beginning this week and continuing into the summer.
Fans are wondering: will there be a fourth season? and, how can I be in the TV audience for the next shows? We are thrilled to announce that there WILL be a fourth season of BackStage Pass.
