BackStage Pass premieres on January 20, at a new time! Look for us every Sunday at 7 p.m., with encore broadcasts at 8 p.m. the following Saturday on WKAR World and at 11 p.m. that Saturday on WKAR.

Tune to Current State every day next week as Scott Pohl and Peter Whorf report from the North American International Auto Show at Cobo Hall in Detroit.  We'll also take you on a tour of classic cars at Lansing's own RE Olds Museum of Transportation.  

Continuing through January 30 is Defending Jacob, a novel by William Landay.

Beginning January 31 is Life Itself: A Memoir, by film critic Roger Ebert.

Jan 15.: Over-the-air reception of WKAR TV and 90.5 FM may be poor during occasional brief periods this week while essential maintenance is performed on the station's broadcast tower. HD radio will be unavailable during these periods. Cable and online service will not be affected for most viewers and listeners.

Last night WKAR hosted another fantastic Community Cinema event featuring the Independent Lens film "Soul Food Junkies."  I'd like to thank everyone who came out and participated in a fun and interesting discussion around food and culture.

I'd particularly  like to thank our panel of guests: Andrea Collier, Lorraine Weatherspoon and Laura DeLind.  They each brought an interesting perspective, including history, health and community.

Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra Music Director Arie Lipsky joins WKAR radio station manager Peter Whorf to preview the A2SO's January 19th Mozart Birthday Bash.  Tune in for music and Mozart merriment, Tuesday, January 15th at noon on 90.5 Classical.
