WKAR-TV changed its broadcast frequency on May 29, 2018 as required by the FCC. If you're an antenna TV viewer, have rescanned for channels to tune in the new frequency, and are still not able to receive WKAR, here is some information that we hope can help you find WKAR or another PBS station broadcasting in your area.

UPDATE THU. 5/31/18, 11:00pm: On Friday, WKAR TV and FM will be off the air for portions of the day during testing of the TV main antenna and transmission line. If testing is successful, TV and FM could be returning to the air at full power by the end of the day. If you've been unable to receive WKAR TV this week, please try a scan for channels Friday evening. Follow here for updates.

UPDATE SAT. 5/26/18, 10:30am:
90.5 and 105.1 FM

90.5 FM has returned to full power operation across its normal coverage area. 105.1 FM has also returned to full service for its usual coverage area. There will still be some brief periods on and after May 29 when the FM stations may be off the air or at reduced power during final tower work.

If you are one of the many Michigan capital region viewers who rely on an antenna to watch free, over-the-air television, this information is for you.

In a couple of weeks, television viewers who use an over-the-air antenna to watch WKAR-TV will need to re-scan their equipment in order to continue watching.

UPDATE: 90.5 returned to full power at 5:32p on Thursday. 4/19

Mon. Feb. 26, 2018: WKAR 94.5 FM goes off the air today. 'Round-the-clock news continues on AM870 and Coming soon – the new WKAR NewsTalk at 105.1 FM.

UPDATE 8:10 A.M.: WKAR-AM 870 returned to the air by 8:07 a.m. 8/1/17.

TECHNOTE: HD radio service discontinued

WKAR radio’s HD service has been discontinued as of June 30, 2017.

If you receive WKAR-TV over the air via antenna and have lost channels 23.1, 23.2 and 23.3, please rescan for channels on your TV. After a rescan, WKAR TV channels should return.

Wed. 5/4/16 3:30pm. For the past several days, WKAR-FM HD signals have been experiencing intermittent outages.
