AUBURN HILLS, MI – Shavonte Zellous scored 19 points and Katie Smith added 14 to help the Detroit Shock beat the Chicago Sky 64-58 on Sunday.
Zellous' 3-pointer with 14.9 seconds left in the third quarter gave the Shock (8-11) the lead for good at 47-44.
Candice Dupree led the Sky (11-12) with 16 points, and Dominique Canty had 13.
Cheryl Ford scored on back-to-back fourth-quarter possessions, extending the Detroit lead to eight at 55-47. Deanna Nolan, who added 11 points for the Shock, gave Detroit an 11-point lead with a jumper with 2:58 remaining.
The Shock led 31-27 at halftime after closing the first quarter on a 13-0 run.
