MSU's Izzo not happy with leadership from Lucas

EAST LANSING, MI – Michigan State coach Tom Izzo is not satisfied with the leadership on his team, particularly from guard Kalin Lucas.

Izzo told Lucas he was not to practice Tuesday with the No. 11 Spartans (9-3) and should spend the time thinking about his leadership role. Izzo wants Lucas to take more responsibility for leading Michigan State.

Izzo says Lucas is not suspended. But it isn't yet known if the 2008-2009 Big Ten Player of the Year will be in Michigan State's lineup for Wednesday's game against Texas-Arlington.

Izzo says his concerns with Lucas do not involve academics or legal issues.

Lucas is averaging 15.7 points per game this season for the Spartans.
