The Michigan Court of Appeals has upheld the murder convictions of a suspected serial killer who was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole in the 2007 slayings of two Lansing women.
In an opinion released Friday, a three-judge panel disagreed with 30-year-old Matthew Macon's claim that didn't have effective legal counsel.
Macon was convicted in 2008 of first-degree murder in the deaths of 64-year-old Sandra Eichorn and 41-year-old Karen Delgado-Yates. He also was convicted of assault with intent to commit murder in an attack on Linda Chapel Jackson.
Macon proclaimed his innocence when sentenced.
Police have said Macon was suspected in the deaths of up to five other women in Lansing, but he has not been charged in those cases.
