3 more Mich. St. players plead guilty to assault

EAST LANSING, MI –

Three more current or former Michigan State football players have pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault charges in connection with a Nov. 22 fight.

Receiver Fred Smith pleaded guilty Thursday to conspiracy to commit assault. An assault charge was dropped.

Former safety Roderick Jenrette pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and assault and battery. A conspiracy charge was dropped.

Former linebacker Jamiihr Williams pleaded guilty to assault. A conspiracy charge was dropped.

That brings to six the number of current or former Spartans who have pleaded guilty in connection to a fight with members of a campus fraternity. Five others face pending charges.

The assault charge could bring up to 93 days in jail. The conspiracy charge is punishable by a maximum one-year sentence.
