Michigan gets nearly $35M for transit projects

LANSING, MI – Michigan is getting nearly $35 million from the federal stimulus program for transit projects.

Detroit will buy 46 buses for its transportation department with the $19 million it was awarded Friday.

Ann Arbor was awarded more than $2 million to renovate a transfer station, expand bus storage capacity and improve bus stops.

Battle Creek will get $319,000 to build an off-street facility for buses.

The Michigan Department of Transportation was granted an additional $13 million for a variety of projects including van and bus purchases and facility renovations.
