Governor Granholm kicks off the school year

By Laura Weber, Michigan Public Radio Network

LANSING, MI – Students head back to school this week in Michigan. Governor Granholm used her weekly radio address to send the kids off, and tout her focus on education in her tenure as governor.

"All children in Michigan need a world class education that prepares them for success in college and in the work place," Granholm says. "So in addition to diversifying our economy and creating jobs, education has been a top priority of mine."

Granholm also officially announced a new website that will launch Tuesday as a resource for kids planning for college. The site, called Michigan College Access Portal will be available at MichiganCAP dot ORG.
