Governor Granholm hits Paris Auto Show

By Rick Pluta, Michigan Public Radio Network

PARIS –
Governor Granholm took a walk through the Paris Auto Show as part of a week-long trade trip to France and Sweden. The governor says people seem very interested in the electric vehicles on display, especially those made by Detroit carmakers.

"Now that Michigan is the North American Center of the battery, they are very interested in that," she says. "They're are interested in how many companies now have clustered in Michigan and I want to be able to make the pitch to the suppliers to the industry that Michigan is the place to be if they intend for their product to be used by the American auto industry."

The governor has also addressed American Chamber of Commerce members in France. The governor is next off to Sweden. Granholm says she wants to forge more relationships between Michigan and Sweden's renewable energy businesses.
