Mich. gov.-elect names head of DC office, others

By AP

LANSING, MI –
Michigan Gov.-elect Rick Snyder has picked ex-Gov. John Engler's former deputy chief of staff to direct the state's Washington office.

Bill McBride is currently chief of staff to U.S. Rep. Vern Ehlers of Grand Rapids.

Snyder said Wednesday that McBride's experience and impressive working relationships on both sides of the aisle were factors in his decision to choose him as the state's liaison to Congress.

The Republican governor-elect also announced Wednesday that Marsha Quebbeman will be director of administration overseeing finance, information technology and office administration.

She's currently a manager in the Department of Technology, Management and Budget and was Engler's office manager.

Norman Saari will manage appointments. He's currently chief of staff to state Sen. Jason Allen of Alanson.

Snyder takes office Jan. 1.
