East Lansing, MI – A new online community aimed at connecting people interested in the state's energy needs has opened its doors.

The Michigan Energy Efficiency Network, or MichEEN was created to bring local governments, schools businesses and the general public together to discuss energy strategies and solutions.

Janet Lillie is with Michigan State University, which is partnering with the state and other groups on the project. Lillie says the network will facilitate more efficient conversations about energy issues.

"There's lots of pockets in Michigan and throughout communities in Michigan that are already engaging in the conversation of energy efficiency," Lillie says. "But they don't always come together in a larger Michigan Community. So it really does allow for the conversation to span the entire state."

The network will also provide educational information about Michigan's energy needs and regular blog posts and articles from professionals working on environmental and energy issues.
