LANSING, MI –
More than a dozen Republican politicians at the state Capitol face recall campaigns. As Michigan Public Radio's Laura Weber reports, it may not matter how many recall campaigns are launched.

AUDIO:
There's a growing list of Republicans battling recall campaigns - Governor Rick Snyder, the leaders of the House and Senate, lawmakers who supported controversial measures, and lawmakers who approved changes to the tax structure. In all, a baker's dozen must stave off petition drives. But that growing number may not be what sends shock waves through the Capitol. Bill Ballenger is the editor of Inside Michigan Politics. He says one successful recall is all it takes to strike fear into politicians, but successful recalls are rare and difficult.

"I think it only takes one recall to send a cannon shot through the Capitol and have everyone scattering and running for the exit signs in a panic," he says.

Lawmakers who face recall campaigns say they are more focused on their work at the Capitol than combatting the efforts against them.
