A hearing has been set on Enbridge Inc.'s plan to replace more sections of a pipeline that leaked more than 800,000 gallons of oil in southern Michigan last summer.
The company wants to replace segments totaling 75 miles in Michigan and Indiana during 2012. The Michigan Public Service Commission has scheduled a Sept. 21 pre-hearing conference to set future hearing dates related to part of the Michigan plan.
The Michigan work would be done in Calhoun, Cass, Ingham, Livingston, Oakland and St. Joseph counties.
Enbridge failed to meet a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency deadline this week to clean up oil submerged in the Kalamazoo River in Michigan. The cleanup from the July 2010 spill could extend beyond this year.
The pipeline runs from Griffith, Ind., to Sarnia, Ontario.
