LANSING, MI –
Gov. Rick Snyder's administration says it would be premature to make plans to spend a likely surplus from the budget year that ended Sept. 30.
Some estimates show the state could have more than $800 million in the general fund and school-aid fund. Final numbers won't be settled for a few weeks.
Republicans who control the Michigan Legislature say there's really not much of a surplus when spending and income projections are taken into account for the next two fiscal years.
Snyder, also a Republican, may have plans of his own for the money as he works to unveil the next budget in February.
