The Federal Highway Administration has announced the western Upper Peninsula will receive $19.2 million in emergency relief funds to repair damage from flooding brought on by heavy rains last June.
The FHA announced the funding Tuesday as part of more than $705.7 million in funding to help 34 states and three territories make repairs to roads and bridges damaged by storms, floods, and other unexpected events.
The heavy rains last June in Houghton and Menominee counties created floodwaters that washed away large chunks of concrete and asphalt, severely damaging roads and creating dozens of sinkholes.
Michigan also is receiving nearly $728,000 for road repairs made necessary by severe weather in July 2016.
