EL and MSU partner to reopen community art space

An East Lansing community space that closed last April has reopened under the operation of MSU’s Department of Art, Art History, and Design. We speak with Jacquelynn Sullivan, director of galleries at MSU about the current exhibit at (SCENE) Metrospace, and about the changes it has undergone for the reopening.

In 2003, former Gov. Jennifer Granholm launched the “Cool Cities” initiative to spur growth and investment in Michigan’s cities. One response to the initiative was (SCENE) Metrospace, a community art and performance space in East Lansing.

The city closed the space last April, but recently announced an agreement to reopen with MSU heading programming and operations.

Current State speaks with Jacquelynn Sullivan, director of galleries at MSU, about the transformation of (SCENE) Metrospace.
